A Safe Place To Feel

Symbolic Losses: It Was Weird Wearing Sneakers

A Safe Place To Feel (ASPTF) is a gender-specific six-session curriculum designed to address and acknowledge both physical and symbolic losses of incarcerated and formally incarcerated women.

The purpose of this group is to address unmet mental health issues caused by grief and loss to reduce high-risk activities that cause women to reoffend upon release.

This six-session curriculum was created using data obtained from a qualitative study conducted by Helena D. Lewis, MSW, LCSW, LCADC, on the lived experiences of formally incarcerated women who experienced the loss of a loved one while incarcerated.
